1. Describe the enemies defeated by Jesus in our passage?  How are these enemies at work today?  How does Jesus demonstrate His victory over these enemies?
2. What do we learn about Jesus’ authority in our passage?
3. What is the purpose of Jesus’ warning in vs. 14?  What is He warning against?
4. What’s the relationship between Jesus’ miracles and the Sabbath day?  What do you think Jesus was trying to communicate by doing miracles on the Sabbath?

1. What’s the difference between the royal official’s response to Jesus in last week’s passage (John 4:46-54) and the invalid’s response to Jesus in today’s passage?
2. What have we learned about the authority of Jesus up to this point in John’s gospel?
