Text: Philippians 1:9-11

Title: Praying for the Church

Big Idea: We must regularly pray for God’s church to become more like Christ through the power of Christ and for the glory of God!

  1. Pray for the church to increase in love both through union with Christ and biblical wisdom (vs. 9)!
  1. Pray for the church to increase in love so that the church may become more like the King in preparation for His return (vs. 10).
  1. Pray for God’s church to give evidence of their union with Christ and thus glorify God (vs. 11).

Discussion Questions:

  1. How often do you pray for God’s church?  How can you grow here?
  2. According to Philippians 1:9-11, what should we pray for God’s church?  How does today’s passage challenge you to start praying differently for the church?
  3. According to Philippians 1:11, what should motivate our prayers for God’s church?
  4. How are you abiding in Christ, and how are you helping other believers to abide?
  5. According to Philippians 1:1-8, how has Paul already put his prayer into practice?
