Title: The Cost and the Commission

Big Idea: The cost of following Jesus is high, but the reward is infinitely higher.

1. The Cost (vv. 9-10)

1. According to our passage, what is the cost of following Jesus?
2. Where do we see the cost of following Jesus emphasized throughout Scripture?
3. Why must believers count the cost?
4. What are Christians commissioned to do?
5. How is the believer’s story similar to Lazarus’s story?

Application Questions:

1. If someone asked you, “Is following Jesus worth it?” what would you say?
2. What have you given up in your own life for the sake of Christ?
3. Is your life being used to bring the lost to faith in Christ?  How can you grow here?
4. How can you do a better job of demonstrating the matchless worth of following Jesus in your own life?
5. How might you prayerfully respond to our passage today?
