Discussion Questions:
1. What stands out in Paul’s final greeting in vv. 21-23? What themes are found in this section that appear elsewhere in Paul’s letter to the Philippians? How do these final verses function as a summary of the entire letter?
2. What’s up with all the greetings? Three times in two verses (vv. 21-22) we find the verb “to greet.” Why does Paul end his letter this way? How might we apply this today?
3. What does it mean to be “in Christ,” and why does Paul use this phrase so often in his letters? Why does Paul begin and end his letter by reminding the church in Philippi that they are in Christ? What are the results and benefits of being in Christ? How are you living out of this identity? How can you grow here?
4. Why does Paul begin and end his letter on the note of God’s grace? What does God’s grace refer to in Philippians 4:23, and how does this relate to the rest of the letter?
5. What was your biggest takeaway from our study in Philippians?
