Discussion Questions

1. How is the Lord currently working in your life and in the lives of other believers you know?  How often do you stop to rejoice in the Lord for what He’s doing?  How can you grow here?

2. What does Paul mean in vs. 11 when he says, “I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content”?  How has the Lord taught you this?

3. According to Paul (and the rest of Scripture) who or what is the secret to facing any and every situation?  How might you use vs. 12 to encourage a fellow believer who is struggling with anxiety or worry?

4. How is vs. 13 often misapplied?  What is Paul really saying in vs. 13, and how does the context (previous verses) help?

5. In vs. 13 Paul speaks of our union with Christ.  How is one united to Christ?  What does it mean to be in Christ?  Why is this doctrine so important (not just for our past, but for our present as well)?

6. How are you currently fighting for joy?  How does Paul encourage us here in Philippians?  How are you helping others in the church fight for joy?  How can you grow here?

7. What was your biggest takeaway from this passage and the sermon?
